Royalty at Brooklands

It was not unheard of for members of the monarchy to attend meetings at Brooklands, they didn't participate themselves, but had riders entered on machines they owned, very similar to the way horse racing has been  conducted over the years.
Here is H.R.H The Duke of York with his 994cc Trump-Anzani , he also entered a 499cc Douglas. his rider a well respected Mr S E Wood. This was 1922,  100 years ago !

The Bikes

Also below a few pictures of the racing bikes used of the era and ponder the thought of some of them thundering around the banked circuit at speeds exceeding 100mph ! With manufacturer names that have long disappeared from the motorcycle scene.
